Finding the right match in a dog walker or a pet sitter is essential. I cannot stress the importance of feeling very comfortable with the person that will be entering your home and spending time with your loved ones. It is your responsibility to ask many questions, call upon references and take a look at how the potential dog walker/sitter interacts with your pet. Some pets will be shy and need some time meeting a new person, that's OK and they may also feel fearful. Others may be ready right from the start, only you know your pet. My dog will growl at anyone who comes to the door, wait for a sniff and then find a quiet place to hide away for a bit. Never feel shy about asking questions during a client meeting, that's the whole purpose of it; a get to know you time. You could ask: how long have you been in business, what is your background, do you live close by, can you visit last minute, etc.. Please understand that it may take some time for your pet to feel comfortable and your dog walker/sitter should always be in communication with you.
